To celebrate CBCA Book Week 2018, I’ve asked some of my favourite bloggers to share a book that one or more of their children adores. Kell from All Mum Said‘s kids love an Aussie classic.

Every child has at least one favourite story, whether it is because they enjoy the adventures they are taken on or because they love the characters. It could be a hit for bedtime or just casually enjoying the book. Three of my four kids are huge book lovers and often get swept up in stories.
Favourite book characters
Snugglepot and Cuddlepie found in the May Gibbs Gumnut Babies books are just two of my daughter’s favourite characters. Since they were little they have enjoyed these classic Australian children’s stories that offer adventure and take them on a journey through the Australian bush.
My girls are campers so they love being able to relate to the characters and the activities they get up to. When we saw the May Gibbs Tales from the Camp Fire and Tales from the Bush, we had to get them. They teach children about kindness and friendship, in addition to respecting nature and encouraging them to discover native Australia.
What I love
As a parent, I love how May Gibbs’ stories are not just written in a way that captivates a child’s mind, but is also accompanied by beautiful illustrations. You cannot help but be drawn in by the characters, lessons and adventures of these stories. Each book features numerous fun-filled adventures. They are short and sweet which is perfect for bedtime reading and the characters are just perfect for book week costumes.
